Twisting the Truth: How Regressive Movements Exploit Myths about Intimate Partner Violence in Family Law
The National Association of Women and the Law (NAWL) provides an analysis of prominent myths, stereotypes and misinformation about intimate partner violence (IPV) promoted by regressive and anti-feminist movements. The resource looks at the use of parental alienation in courts, opposition to gun control and the gender-based violence epidemic. NAWL explains how regressive messages directly challenge the work of feminist organizations and work to maintain sexism, paternalism and discrimination in the Canadian legal system, especially for survivors of IPV.
