Ten Reasons Why Universality is Important in Public Services

This fact sheet looks at why a universal model of public services is necessary, versus targeted funding approaches to public services, such as child care and post-secondary education (PSE). Using an intersectional lens, this fact sheet explores how targeted approaches indirectly and, more often than not, directly engender a range of social and economic ability-based, cultural, geographic and other barriers to equitable access to public services.
