Searching for Subjectivity in the Worlds of the Sciences: Feminist Viewpoints
Originally published in French in 1989, Mura argues that science is not purely objective or neutral, but shaped by the perspectives, assumptions, and social positions of those who produce it. She shows how feminist viewpoints reveal biases in scientific knowledge and push for more inclusive, self-aware approaches to inquiry. At a time when academia was just beginning to consider this prospect, Mura’s research challenges core assumptions by questioning the idea of objective, value-free knowledge and arguing that bringing a feminist lens can strengthen scientific understanding.
