Impacts of Anti-Feminism and Regressive Movements in Canada: Findings from Regional Discussions

From the spring to the fall 2024, CRIAW-ICREF organized regional discussion groups with diverse women’s rights and feminist organizations across the country using feminist participatory action research methods. The summary report presents the findings from our discussions on the threats posed by regressive and anti-feminist movements and how the women’s rights movement in Canada may work together to protect and strengthen intersectional women’s rights and social justice.

The report’s findings are divided into two key sections: 1) what feminists are seeing on the ground from regressive and anti-feminist movements and 2) collective actions to take to counter these movements and ideologies.

The regional discussions were conducted as part of CRIAW-ICREF’s “Strengthening Feminist Intersectional Solidarity for Action” project, which builds on our ongoing work of examining the growing visibility and resurgence of regressive and anti-feminist ideologies in Canada and its impacts. Countering regressive movements and ideologies can only be done effectively when we work together.
