On April 20th, 2022, CRIAW-ICREF hosted the “Deep Roots, New Threats: Confronting the Rising Right” panel discussion over Zoom, continuing to delve deeper into extremist Right-wing populism. Panelists including Barbara Perry (Ontario Tech University), Justin Ling (freelance investigative journalist), Elizabeth Simons (Canadian Anti-Hate Network), Nuzhat Jafri (Canadian Council of Muslim Women), El Jones (Mount Saint Vincent University) and Janet Conway (Brock University) discussed and examined the implications of the rising Right from their perspectives, and its impact in Canada. CRIAW-ICREF President Tammy Findlay moderated the discussion.

Panelists spoke to the various ways in which the Right presents itself in the Canadian context, the ways in which this racist, misogynistic movement and ideology can, and should, be countered and much more.
