Ce rapport est seulement disponible en anglais.
CRIAW-ICREF’s report on “Harnessing the potential for a more equitable future in Newfoundland and Labrador: Applying Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA Plus) to offshore wind development” provides ground-breaking findings and recommended engagement strategies for data collection prior to embarking on offshore wind development to ensure a more equitable distribution of benefits from this emerging industry.
This research was conducted at the request of the Impact Assessment Agency of Canada to inform the Agency’s Regional Assessment of Offshore Wind Development in Newfoundland and Labrador. The CRIAW-ICREF report explains and demonstrates what an intersectional approach to planning for economic benefits for diverse populations would look like. It identifies barriers and opportunities as well as indicators to assess equity in training and education, employment and retention and community wellness related to the offshore wind industry in NL. Measures to bring about an equitable distribution of benefits for diverse populations in the province are discussed and the state of data to assess these changes in the province are evaluated. Recommendations to improve intersectional data collection and engage diverse communities in doing so are included in the report.
