The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on women in all of their diversity, at every turn. Pre-existing systemic barriers to women are a fundamental cause of the occurrences of vulnerability during this crisis, and every crisis.

This first fact sheet from the Women and COVID-19 series introduces the issues at hand and gives an overview of the next three fact sheets in the series. Using feminist intersectional analysis, these next fact sheets look at the impacts of COVID-19 on diverse women, in relation to the care economy, to systemic racism and sexism, and to violence against women in Canada.
