Since 1976, CRIAW-ICREF has been researching and documenting the economic and social situation of women in Canada. Using intersectional frameworks, we have developed and undertaken a variety of important, groundbreaking research that is women centred. CRIAW-ICREF is a not for profit member based organization.
We focus exclusively on nurturing feminist research and making it accessible for public advocacy and education.
All CRIAW activities flow from an overarching goal to provide tools and information to help organizations take action to advance social justice and equality for all women.
While you may not know us personally, you have no doubt benefited from our work.
CRIAW is a research institute which provides tools to facilitate organizations taking action to advance social justice and equality for all women. CRIAW recognizes women’s diverse experiences and perspectives; creates spaces for developing women’s knowledge; bridges regional isolation; and provides communication links between/among researchers and organizations actively working to promote social justice and equality for all women.
CRIAW is also committed to a longer–term vision that is a reminder of the world we are working to establish beyond the immediate issues and challenges.
CRIAW is working to create a world in which individuals of all genders, races, cultures, languages, incomes, abilities, sexualities, religions, identities, ages and experiences fully partake of, and contribute to, a just, violence–free, balanced and joyful society that respects the human dignity of all. It is a world constantly opening to new ideas, new perspectives, new energy. It is a world where people and communities share resources and work together, to form an integrated picture in which every contribution is precious, and all people are valued and useful. And it is a society connected to, and respectful of, the earth and the universe.
