Call for Submissions 2026
The Feminist Word is inviting submissions for the 16th edition of the magazine!
Does the state of the world make you angry? It should. As feminists, we are still fighting battles that women were fighting fifty years ago, while new threats to our rights, autonomy, and humanity continue to arise. Progress is celebrated, yet every day we are faced with how fragile it really is. We are told to be patient, reasonable, smile more, be gracious, polite, pleasant; the list goes on. We are told not to be too loud, too emotional, is it that time of the month, don’t be too vulgar, too angry. But if you’re not angry, are you truly paying attention? Sit with that anger, feel the rage, frustration, grief, exhaustion, feel it all and let it burn. Engage with feminist rage, fierceness, resistance, and transformation; create pieces that ask difficult questions, challenge comfortable narratives, and refuse to look away.
How do we understand feminist rage in a world that demands we remain quiet, agreeable, and composed? What happens when we refuse to make our anger palatable? What truth comes out when rage is expressed rather than contained? What does rage make possible, and what does it reveal? What future becomes possible when we stop looking away?
Submit your thoughtful and original pieces on the raw, the intense, the messy, and the uncensored and feel free to go deeper beyond these questions and take the theme in the creative direction of your choice!
Who can contribute?
This call is open to young women between the ages of 15 and 35. We accept contributions – be it art, photography, essays, poems, stories, comics or mixed media pieces – from young women in Canada and around the world.

How to submit?
Share your written work or artwork with us for the upcoming edition of the F-Word! Please submit your work and application form (found on our website) via email to fword.efem@criaw-icref.ca and include in the subject line: F-Word Contribution. Written pieces must be in Word Document format and all submissions titled as such: FirstName LastName_Titleofpiece.
Applications will be accepted from September 1, 2026, to September 30, 2026 @ 11:59PM ET.
