Funding Sources for Research on Women (bilingual)
Show me the money!
So you're a community agency or women's organization and you want to find money for a research project? Or maybe you're an independent or academic researcher wanting to partner with the community and need to know what kind of funding might be out there? Or perhaps you operate a resource library and are interested in the very latest bilingual guide?
This book lists 93 federal and provincial granting programs, foundations, research institutes and corporations open to giving money toward research on issues important to women's equality. It contains sources one would not necessarily think of in the long and hard search for funds. It also contains a section of recommended resources: publications, internet sites and organizations which are gateways to further information about funding sources and how to access them.
At the Canadian Research Institute for the Advancement of Women (CRIAW), one of the most commonly asked questions of us is AWhere can I get funding for my research project? This book is an attempt to answer that important question. More and more community organizations are doing their own research, be it a needs assessment for services for abused women, research on what kind of community economic development project might work best in their local area, or projects of a national scope on issues of social justice. They have one thing in common: They are an important contribution to achieving social, legal and economic equality between women and men, and creating a better, safer and fairer world. This guide can help those dreams become a reality through practical support: pointing the way to the financial resources, giving tips on writing successful proposals, and offering a glimpse into how the funding game works.
