This publication on the 9th IWHM attempts to privilege grassroots organizing and activism by documenting and publicizing the struggles of resistance being waged by activists who attended the Meeting and who continue to work at the local and regional levels. Whether they are challenging the rising HIV/AIDS pandemic in Rwanda or waging a struggle for self-determination against Israeli occupation in Palestine, or emerging from the dark shadows of colonialism and cultural genocide as the Inuit in Canada, they are all engaged in the politics of resistance. The publication documents the richness and diversity of their struggles and experiences. Taken together, they form the building blocks of international feminist and social movements from the ground up. This tribute is our contribution to furthering the recognition of activism and grassroots women’s right to health and equality.
