The CRIAW Papers comprises a continuining series of publications: original research papers advancing the knowledge and understanding of women's experience.
These two papers are critical reflections on the state of historical writing dealing with women in the western regions of Canada and the United States. Their reflections provide readers with an up-to-date (April 1987) survey of recent writings on western women and a handy reference tool for furher research. Both papers were presented at a session of the annual meeting of the Canadian Historical Association in Winnipeg, Manitoba in June, 1986.
