New resources available from Policy 4 Women!
Engendering Public Engagement, Democratizing Public Space (a.k.a. Policy 4 Women) is a joint initiative between three of Canada’s leading feminist organizations. In honour of the Royal Commission on the Status of Women, whose 50th anniversary is coming up in 2020, Policy 4 Women is reviving the Commission’s innovative public engagement strategies to re-examine the status of women and gender justice issues in Canada today. Policy 4 Women aims to create an accessible model for public engagement, to increase the ability of grassroots and advocacy organizations to participate in policy development, and to connect these organizations to academic research that will support their efforts.
Today they are launching the first in a series of policy briefing notes on topics affecting women in Canada. "Early Childhood Education and Care" examines why access to quality ECEC services is so important to women, what governments have done in the past to support ECEC services, and provides recommendations on critical next steps to both expand and improve these services in order to further women’s equity in Canada.
A must-read for policymakers, women’s organizations, parents, and ECEC workers! Check it out, and watch for future publications, here.
